The Village would like to inform you about some important track work that the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) will be conducting on the Far Rockaway branch as part of their annual maintenance program. The work is scheduled to take place from approximately 11:00 pm on Friday, April 28th until 3:00 am on Monday, May 1st. Similar work will also be carried out on the weekends of May 5th and May 19th.
During this time, train service from Valley Stream to Far Rockaway will be temporarily suspended in both directions. However, there will be alternative travel options available. Customers wishing to travel east along the Far Rockaway branch can take a train to Valley Stream and transfer to a bus for service to all points east. Similarly, those traveling west can board a bus at any of the stations along the branch and take a train from Valley Stream to points west.
Please note that the track work will primarily take place in and around Valley Stream. However, there will also be a number of other important tasks performed along the branch to ensure that the LIRR’s infrastructure is in a state of good repair.
