Power Outages from Tropical Storm Isaias

Tropical Storm Isaias plowed through Long Island yesterday with high winds that toppled trees and left more than 368,000 of PSEG’s 1.1 million customers in Long Island without power.   PSEG claims to have already restored approximately 90,000 customers.

We have identified approximately 30 homes on 7 streets in Cedarhurst that are still without power, and we are urging PSEG to restore them as quickly as possible.  If you or someone you know has lost power, you should also contact PSEG Long Island’s 24-hour Electric Emergency number: 1-800-490-0075 or text “OUT” to PSEGLI (773454). You can also monitor your outage through PSEG’s website by clicking here.

Many very large trees were toppled yesterday and our DPW crews worked into the darkness last night removing them and opening roadways.  They are out there again in full force since early this morning clearing fallen trees and branches and picking up debris.   It will take another few days for all the litter to be picked up and we urge everyone to drive cautiously to avoid hitting tree limbs  stacked alongside the roadway.   If you have any questions, contact Village Hall at 516-295-5770.  In case of an emergency, call 911 for the fastest response.
