Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) has just informed us about the upcoming track work on the Far Rockaway branch. This essential maintenance work is scheduled to take place from Friday, the 19th of May, starting at approximately 11:00pm, until Monday, the 22nd of May, concluding at approximately 3:00am. This will be the final outage as part of the current workplan.
During this period, there will be no train service available from Valley Stream to Far Rockaway. However, the LIRR has made alternative arrangements to ensure minimal disruption to your travel plans. Buses will be provided as substitutes for the train service in both directions. Please refer to the details below for more information:
- Customers wishing to travel east along the Far Rockaway branch can take a train to Valley Stream and transfer to a bus for service to all points east.
- Customers traveling west can board a bus at any of the stations along the branch and take a train from Valley Stream to points west.
- The track work will be primarily located in and around Valley Stream, however, there will also be a number of other tasks performed along the branch.
