As part of the major improvements taking place throughout the Village—from new tree plantings to upgraded infrastructure—we’re thrilled to share another big step forward for our community.
The Long Island Rail Road is officially moving ahead with a fantastic accessibility upgrade at the Cedarhurst Station. While we already have handicap-accessible ramps on Washington Avenue, this project goes even further. Brand-new ramps will be built directly at the station entrances, giving residents and visitors a far more direct, convenient, and user-friendly way to reach the platforms.
Construction is already underway on the north side off Summit Avenue, with work on the south side along Chestnut Street beginning shortly. To complete the project, the LIRR will need to reserve 13 parking spaces for their crews for approximately 90 days.
We truly appreciate everyone’s patience while this work is in progress. Once completed, these enhancements will provide a smoother, safer, and more welcoming experience for all who use our train station—another meaningful quality-of-life improvement for Cedarhurst.
