The mission of The Village of Cedarhurst Emergency Management Committee is to,
- Maintain a high level of preparedness
- Pursue and acquire grants for mitigation projects
- Provide awareness for residents during times of emergency

Application submitted for Village Hall Backup Generator
October 15, 2013
Install one 45,000 watt generator located at Village Hall to provide backup power during times of utility failure
Application submitted for “Project Flood”
October 15, 2013
Project flood – 750 foot bulkhead to be installed along the Mott’s Creak shore line on the Northern section of the village.

The NY Rising Housing Recovery Program provides homeowners with assistance for home repairs/rehabilitation, mitigation and elevation, and buyouts. Please follow the following link for more information.
NY Rising Community Reconstruction Program

The Village of Cedarhurst has been allocated funds as a result of mitigation efforts from past costal storms.
Project includes
Reconstruct and repair of village storm drain systems
Installation of new flood prevention project (flood walls, bulkheads and temporary flood barriers)
Creation and implantation of a village disaster response plan
Nassau County Hazard Mitigation Plan
December 2013 –
The village is currently working with Nassau County office of Emergency Management in the update of the Nassau County Hazard Mitigation Plan to include the Village of Cedarhurst.
