Cedarhurst Holiday Festivities

Published on November 29, 2018

Mayor Benjamin Weinstock and the Board of Trustees invite you to participate in celebrating Chanukah and Christmas traditions in Cedarhurst’s scenic Andrew J. Parise Park.

“Our Park is the heart of our beautiful Village and it is fitting to invite the community there to commemorate and share their respective traditions.  Each year, the two winter-time holidays bring a special joy to our Village” said Mayor Benjamin Weinstock.

The Celebration of the wonders of the Chanukah miracle begins on the first night, Sunday, December 2nd through Sunday, December 9th. For each of the eight nights of the holiday, Rabbi Wolowik of the Five Towns Chabad Center will lead the Chanukah festivities.  Join us for the menorah lighting each day at 6:00 PM, except Friday, December 4thwhen the menorah will be lit at 3:00 PM.

On Sunday, December 9th, at 4:00 PM, Father Tom Moriarty and The Parishes of the Five Towns led by Msgr. Paul F. Rahilly, Pastor Emeritus, will host the Christmas Caroling Celebration.  We will gather around the traditional bonfire, enjoy chestnuts roasting on an open fire, hot chocolate, and cookies as we wait for our surprise visitor!  Carolers in the decorated gazebo will lead hundreds in song and it is recommended that all who attend bring flashlights to read the song sheets that are provided.  Mayor Weinstock will continue the exciting tradition of inviting the crowd to count down to the dramatic lighting of the splendid Park Christmas tree.
