Weather Alert

You’ve probably heard about the record cold weather that’s been hitting the middle part of the country.  A bit of that polar front is predicted to arrive in Cedarhurst today and into the early part of Thursday.  The forecast is for dangerously low temperatures with high wind gusts (possibly up to 50 mph) and wind-chill temperatures as low as 20 degrees below zero.  The risk of frost bite to exposed skin will be very high.  We encourage everyone, especially children and seniors, to stay indoors as much as possible.

As a precaution against icy roads, we have already pre-salted the Village’s parking fields and we will pre-salt the Village roads between 1:00 and 3:00 this afternoon.  Residents should park their vehicles in their driveways to allow the salt spreaders to achieve the widest possible coverage.

IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY CALL 911. DO NOT CALL THE FOURTH PRECINCT DIRECTLY.  THIS ONLY SLOWS DOWN THE RESPONSE TIME.

FOR FIRE EMERGENCIES, CALL THE LAWRENCE-CEDARHURST FIRE DEPARTMENT AT 516-569-4411.

Keep your cell phones and portable power packs charged in case you lose electric power.
