As violent protests spread, and many public officials call to defund the police, Mayor Benjamin Weinstock and Trustees Israel Wasser and Daniel Plaut joined Legislator Howard J. Kopel along with other local officials on July 23, 2020 in a County wide Blue Ribbon Campaign to show support for law enforcement.

The Blue Ribbon campaign encourages everyone to place blue ribbons on trees, signs, poles and in windows to show their support for the brave men and women of the Nassau County Police Department, the local village and city police departments, and the members of the NYPD that live in Nassau County.
