Another Bump in the Road

Our children love snow.  It’s exciting, fun and a day off from school.   For the Village, “not so much.”

The freeze-thaw cycle wreaks havoc upon our streets.  This is the time of year when potholes emerge everywhere.   Thankfully, we are prepared and have been aggressively making repairs throughout the Village.

Our Highway Department has been filling-in potholes daily.  We used more than 8,000 pounds of Cold Patch in the last week alone.  The Cold-Patch repairs are only temporary since asphalt plants (needed for permanent repairs) are closed in the winter and will reopen in the middle of March.  Therefore, we will follow up in the spring with longer lasting asphalt repairs.

Mayor Weinstock and the Board of Trustees emphasized that “first and foremost, is the safety of our residents and visitors.  We are continuing to fill the rapidly emerging potholes to make sure that Cedarhurst remains a safe place to drive and walk.”

Please help us.  If you notice a pothole in the Village, please call it in to Village Hall at  (516) 295-5770 or send an email to village@cedarhurst.gov (att: Frank).
