Public Advisory | Safeguard Your Cars

Published on December 28, 2017

The Nassau County Police Department has informed us that thefts of property from cars have been steadily increasing.  Most of us don’t think about car theft prevention until it’s too late.  But the fact is, learning how to prevent a car theft will help you guard against these crimes of opportunity.

Here are several simple steps that everyone should follow.

  • Always lock your car doors even if you’re only leaving it unattended for a few minutes.
  • Never leave the keys or any valuables inside the vehicle, even in your driveway.
  • Park in a well-lit area whenever possible.
  • If you see something, say something.  Do not hesitate to report any suspicious activity to 911.
